NDSU Libraries Undergraduate Research Award (LURA) 2024 recipient, Lora Ensign

Join us in congratulating NDSU Libraries Undergraduate Research Award (LURA) 2024 recipient, Lora Ensign! This award recognizes excellence in the use of library resources in completing an undergraduate research project. Lora’s project is titled "Rise of Melatonin Supplementation: Results, Side Effects, and Concerns."

Lora is currently a sophomore at NDSU. Next fall she will be entering NDSU’s Pharmacy Program. She currently works on campus as a learning assistant for Math 144 Applied Calculus and in a pharmaceutical research lab, while also interning at Linson Pharmacy. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, reading, and traveling.

When discussing plans after college, Lora states, "My plan after completing my PharmD is to enter into a critical care or emergency medicine pharmacy residency program to gain hands-on experience while furthering my education." After she completes her residency, she hopes to get a full-time job in either of those fields.

For students who are not as familiar with library resources, Lora recommends exploring the Libraries' online database. She states, "When I began my research paper, I was uncertain where to locate relevant peer-reviewed sources. However, diving into NDSU’s digital library proved highly effective. I quickly discovered valuable sources that strengthened my paper’s credibility. NDSU’s library extends far beyond the typical book borrowing, and I urge everyone to explore its offerings.”

We congratulate Lora on this well-deserved award and look forward to her future success!
